Antar Babatunde Laniyan, fondly called Antar Laniyan, is a veteran Nigerian actor, director, and producer.

He was born on the 26th of May, in the 60s, in Oshogbo, Osun State.

Antar is a household face in the Yoruba movie industry and sometimes Nollywood.

Antar attended Baptist secondary school in Lagos State for his secondary education before heading to the University of Ibadan(UI), where he studied Theater Arts.

Career

His acting career, however, started in 1976, when he was a secondary school student. Antar began working as a professional actor in 1981 after being mentored by Pappy Ben.

In his first significant acting role, he was a military general in the film “Everybody Wants to Know,” where he played the role of a member of the Kakaki Art Squad.

In addition, he has acted in a number of Nigerian films, including Wale Ogunyemi and Obafemi Lasode’s Sango. He directed the opening scene of Super Story, the renowned 2000 Nigerian soap opera produced by Wale Adenuga. The movies This Life and Oh Father, Oh Daughter were also produced and directed by him.

The veteran actor has featured in over a hundred movies and shared the big screen with top Nigerian actors.
