Biography
Francisca Ordega is a Nigerian professional female footballer who plays as a forward for CSKA Moscow in the Russian Women’s Football Championship.
Ordega was born on October 19, 1993, in Gboko, Benue State, Nigeria.
She is a prominent member of the Super Falcons, Nigeria’s women’s national football team. She was once nominated for best African female footballer.
Club Career
Ordega started her career playing for Bayelsa Queens at the youth level. Before joining Rivers Angels in 2011.
She relocated to Russia in 2012 to play for Rossiyanka in the Russian Women’s Football Championship. She, however, parted ways with the club the same year.
Ordega then joined Pite IF in the Swedish Damallsvenskan in 2013, playing 34 games and scoring four goals for the club between 2013 and 2015.
She also had a spell with Washington Spirit before heading to Sydney FC on loan.
Ordega was also loaned from Sydney FC to Atlético Madrid before making a move to Shanghai WFC
She then left to join Levante UD under a contract expected to last until 2023. Later in 2021, she signed for CSKA Moscow
International Career
Ordega started her international career with the under-17s in the 2010 FIFA U-17 World Cup and the under-20s in the 2012 FIFA U-20 World Cup. She competed at the top level in the FIFA Women’s World Cup events in 2011, 2015, and 2019.
She made her World Cup debut on June 8, 2015, in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada, by scoring Nigeria’s equalizing goal against Sweden. The dramatic game in Group D’s first match concluded 3-3.
She was also a member of Nigeria’s winning teams at the African Women’s Championship in 2010 and 2014. She was once nominated for “best African female footballer.”
She was also a member of the Nigerian team that won the Africa Women’s Cup of Nations in Ghana in 2018. During the competition, she scored twice, assisted twice, and was named the team’s player of the match versus South Africa.
In February, she was a member of the Super Falcons team that became the first African team to win the 2021 Turkish Women’s Cup in Antalya, Turkey.
