Biography
Skales, real name – Raoul John Njeng-Njeng, is a professional and talented Nigerian rapper, singer, and songwriter.
Skales was born on April 1, 1991, in Kaduna State.
His stage name, SKALES is an acronym for Seek Knowledge Acquire Large Entrepreneurial Skills.
Education
Skales attended the University of Jos for his tertiary education before dropping out to enrol for a degree in Office Management and Technology at Lead City University in Ibadan.
Career
Skales started music as an undergraduate at the University of Jos(UNIJOS), where he met music stars like Jeremiah Gyang and. Jesse Jagz.
Skales dropped out of UNIJOS in his junior year to attend Lead City University, where he earned a degree in office management and technology. His first single, “Must Shine,” was acclaimed.
Kanye West’s “Jesus Walks” influenced his 2009 release “Heading for a Grammy.” His experiences influenced the scope of the song, a hymn to self-empowerment.
He concurrently released the singles “Mukulu” and “Keresimesi.” Sarz produced both songs, which were released under the label.
Skales was one of the primary acts on Empire Mates’s State of Mind, E.M.E.’s debut album in 2012. On five of the album’s seven hits, he worked with Banky W, Wizkid, Shaydee, Niyola, and DJ Xclusive. He also toured with several of the above-mentioned groups on the EME US Tour, which began on July 4 and finished on September 2, 2012.
Skales quit E.M.E. in February 2014 when his four-year recording contract expired.
In May 2014, Skales established his record label, OHK Music. The label is home to producer Drey Beatz and has affiliations with other music personnel within Nigeria.
On 6 May 2014, he released the Jay Pizzle-produced track “Shake Body” as the lead single from his debut studio album Man of the Year. The accompanying music video for the song was uploaded to YouTube on 22 July 2014.
Marriage
Skales married his long-time girlfriend, Hassanity Precious, in 2021.
