Biography

Rachel Meghan Markle also called Meghan – Duchess of Sussex is an American member of the British royal family and the wife of Prince Harry, Duke of Sussex, the younger son of King Charles III and grandson of Queen Elizabeth II.

Meghan was born August 4, 1981, to Thomas Markle Sr. and Doria Ragla at the West Park Hospital, Canoga Park, Los Angeles, California, U.S.

Meghan is also a former actress.

She recently revealed in her podcast that according to her findings, she is 43% Nigerian.

Education

Meghan attended L.A.’s Immaculate Heart High School for her secondary education before heading to Northwestern’s School of Communication, where she had a double major in theatre and international studies.

Career

Meghan had a remarkable career as an actress before she assumed royal duty.

Her father was the lighting director for the daytime soap opera General Hospital, which featured her first on-screen appearance in a minor nurse role.

Markle appeared briefly on CSI: NY, The War at Home, and Century City. She misled the casting directors about her SAG-AFTRA membership when applying for her role in Century City. Still, the Taft-Hartley Act required her employers to assist her in joining the union after she was cast.

Additionally, Markle worked as a contract model and actor. She participated in 34 episodes of the US version of the game show Deal or No Deal as a “briefcase girl.” In the first two episodes of the second season of the Fox television series Fringe, she appeared as Junior Agent Amy Jessup.

She also featured in The Candidate, Get Him to the Greek and Horrible Bosses. Markle also played small parts in the movies produced by her then-partner Trevor Engelson, Remember Me.

She began appearing in the USA Network drama Suits in July 2011 and stayed until the show’s seventh season concluded in late 2017. Her main character, Rachel Zane, worked as a paralegal before becoming a lawyer.

From July 2011 until the end of the seventh season in late 2017, she was a member of the USA Network drama Suits.

Relationship

In 2004, Markle and American movie producer Trevor Engelson started dating.

The couple exchanged vows on September 10, 2011, in Ocho Rios, Jamaica. After roughly 18 months of separation, they finalized a no-fault divorce in August 2013, citing irreconcilable differences. After almost two years, Markle’s subsequent live-in relationship with Canadian celebrity chef and restaurateur Cory Vitiello ended in May 2016.

Prince Harry and Markle started dating in July 2016.

King Charles III (then the Prince of Wales), announced their engagement to the public on November 27, 2017.

Controversy

Samantha Markle, Meghan’s half-sister, filed a defamation lawsuit against her in Florida in March 2022, accusing her of making false statements for the book Finding Freedom and lying in the Oprah interview.

She sought more than $75,000 in damages. According to Meghan’s attorneys, the lawsuit is “a continuation of a pattern of disturbing behaviour.” Meghan’s attorneys responded in May 2022, stating that the statements Meghan made during the Oprah interview were either “non-actionable opinion” or “substantially true” and that her allegations were “demonstrably false.”
