VIDEO ‘My time is up’: Trevor Noah announces exit as ‘The Daily Show’ host after 7 years

South African comedian, Trevor Noah, has announced his exit as the host of the popular Award-winning Comedy Central programme, The Daily Show.

Noah took over the rein of the show seven years ago after the exit of longtime host Jon Stewart.

During his announcement, Noah, hinted he will be focusing more of his time on stand-up comedy.

Who is Trevor Noah?

Trevor Noah is a 38-year-old comedian was born in Johannesburg, South Africa. He moved to the United States in 2011.

What did Trevor Noah say about his exit from The Daily Show?

Although he didn’t state the exact date he will stop featuring as the show host, Noah in his announcement speech said; “I remember when we first started, so many people didn’t believe in us. It was a crazy bet to make. I still think it was a crazy choice, this random African.

“I just find myself filled with gratitude for the journey. It’s been absolutely amazing. It’s something that I never expected.

“I realise that after seven years, my time is up, but in the most beautiful way.

“I’ve loved hosting this show. It’s been one of my greatest challenges, it’s been one of my greatest joys. But after seven years, I feel like it’s time.”

Also thanking the Comedy Central network for giving him a chance, the Emmy winner added that he has other aspects of his life he wants to “carry on exploring.”

Trevor said, “I miss learning other languages. I miss going to other countries and putting on shows. I miss just being everywhere and doing everything.

“I’m really grateful to a network who believed in this random comedian nobody knew on this side of the world.

“I never dreamed that I would be here. I sort of felt like Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. I came in for a tour of what the previous show was, and then the next thing I know I was handed the keys. All I can say is thank you very much.”
