10 famous rappers sentenced to jail for crime

1. Gucci Mane

Gucci has some criminal record enough to make him top this list. In 2005, he and his team got into an assault with some people, resulting in someone’s death.

However, he was released due to a lack of proof. After that, he’s been to jail twice for different reasons.

2. 50 Cents

After 50 cents’ mother’s demise, he took after her and started selling drugs too. This resulted in him going to prison in 1994.

After he came back, he started to rap. In 2000, after escaping assassination, he started carrying gun with him, which almost got him arrested.

3. Lil-Wayne

In 2007, police searched Lil-Wayne’s van and found a gun registered to his manager. He pleaded guilty and was sentenced to one year in the famous Rikers Island prison.

He served for eight months, however, due to some delays in the sentencing.

4. Tupac

Tupac’s life was full of different criminal records. One that stands out is about a woman who claims he sexually assaulted her in a hotel.

He served nine months in prison for the crime. Conclusively, the rapper’s life is filled with different charges and jail time.

5. Fat Joe

Fat Joe tried avoiding legal issues throughout his life; however, he went to jail for something not too serious. The rapper was accused of physical assault twice. Neither of them stuck. Unfortunately, he was jailed after he evaded tax-paying between 2007 and 2010.

6. Meek Mill

Meek Mill was convicted of drug dealing and gun charges. He served six months in prison and is still on probation. Even with that, the rapper hasn’t been on his best behaviour.

He was sentenced to a funny punishment-take “etiquette classes” by a judge recently.

7. T.I.

T.I. is known for being charged for possessing a gun at weird times. He was once arrested for illegal weapon possession on his way to B.E.T awards.

For that, he served a one-year sentence. After he was released, he violated his probation and served 11 months.

8. Bobby Shmurda

In 2016, the rapper was found guilty of weapons possession. He was sentenced to 7 years in prison.

While in prison, he bagged four years for sneaking illegal items into his cell; however, the sentence ran together with the initial sentence, so he used 7 years.

9. Lil Kim

In 2021, Lil Kim and her friends got into a gunfight with another rapper. Kim wasn’t charged for anything, but she was sentenced for lying to a jury.

She lied that her friends who weren’t involved. Unknowingly to her that they had said the truth already.

10. R. Kelly

Robert Sylvester Kelly, the R&B singer also known as “R. Kelly,” was sentenced by United States District Judge Ann M. Donnelly to 30 years in prison June 29.

On September 27, 2021, following six weeks of trial, a federal jury in Brooklyn convicted Kelly of all nine counts of a superseding indictment charging him with racketeering predicated on criminal conduct including sexual exploitation of children, forced labour and Mann Act violations involving the coercion and transportation of women and girls in interstate commerce to engage in illegal sexual activity.
