1. Presidency: APC may field northern candidate, awaits PDP primary [Punch Newspaper]

There are strong indications that the All Progressives Congress may field a northern candidate that can compete with the Peoples Democratic Party if the opposition party picks its presidential standard-bearer from the North in 2023.

On Monday that although the APC was interested in zoning its presidential ticket to the South, the outcome of the PDP’s presidential primary scheduled for May 28 and May 29 would determine its final decision.

2. 2023 Presidency: Northern Christian Elders, PFN, CAN rail against Muslim-Muslim ticket [Vanguard Newspaper]

A group, Northern States Christian Elders Forum, NOSCEF, has described as insensitive and selfish thoughts of fielding a Muslim-Muslim ticket for the presidency in the 2023 general elections.

The group, comprising such personalities as Lt. General T.Y. Danjuma, retd,  Evangelist Matthew Owojaiye, Prof. Adamu Baikie, Gen. Y Nom, Elder Olaiya Phillips, Prof Emeritus M. Gadzama, and Dr Micheal Ango, among others, warned that such a move would be massively resisted.

3. 8 killed, including mother and child, after a three-storey building collapsed in the Ebute Metta area of Lagos State [NewsWireNGR]

No fewer than eight persons have been confirmed dead after a three-storey building collapsed in the Ebute Metta area of Lagos State.

4. APC, PDP nomination fees will encourage corruption — Osi-Olubadan, Ladoja [NewsWireNGR]

Former Governor Rasheed Ladoja of Oyo State has decried the exorbitant fees charged for nomination forms by the two major political parties in the country, saying it would encourage corruption.

Ladoja made the disclosure on Monday while fielding questions from journalists at his Ibadan residence.

5. 2023 Zoning: Blame PDP if presidency doesn’t go to South — APC Chieftain [NewsWireNGR]

A founding member of All Progressives Congress (APC) Mr Osita Okechukwu, says Nigerians should hold the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) responsible if the 2023 Presidency is not zoned to the South.
