The Afropunk festival’s sister event LETSGETFR.EE carnival has confirmed the date for its 2022 show.

The date for the event was announced via its official Instagram account @letsgerfr.ee on Tuesday, March 1, 2022.

The LETSGETFR.EE carnival was created by Jocely Cooper and the founder and ex-head of the AFROPUNK festival, Matthew Morgan.

The AFROPUNK festival was created to give black alternative musicians a platform in a predominantly white industry but later shifted to a soul and Hip-hop festival.

Just like the Afropunk festival, the LETSGETFR.EE carnival was created for all racial minorities, especially Black and Asian people, “to close the equity gap for Black, Brown, Asian, and other underrepresented people in the entertainment industry, with the aim of achieving a diversified workforce across all levels in the industry by 2030.”

Nigerian singer Ayodeji Balogun, stage name ‘Wizkid’ and American rapper Missy Elliot, whose full name is ‘Melissa Arnette Elliott’, will be headlining the show on Saturday, August 20, 2022.

The carnival will also have other popular international artistes at the show.

Jhené Aiko Efuru Chilombo, stage name ‘Jhene Aiko’, Major Lazer, Anderson.Paak, Tiwa Savage, Mr Eazi and Foushee will all be performing at the carnival.
