Plans to get immediate past President, Dr. Goodluck Jonathan, to run for the presidency on the platform of the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, are facing attacks across the divides.
Sources told Vanguard that the Otuoke, Bayelsa State-born politician, who is still a member of the main opposition Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, is weighing his options on whether or not to contest the 2023 elections on the platform of the APC.
2. Russia-Ukraine war: Fuel scarcity may continue, oil vessels face delay on sea [Punch Newspaper]
The ongoing war between Russia and Ukraine may further prolong the over three-week scarcity of Premium Motor Spirit, popularly called petrol, in Nigeria, as bulk of the refined products coming into the country from the warring region and its adjoining areas are likely to face some delays.
3. Nigeria’s Foreign Debt May Bar Banks Raising Extra Capital [Independent Newspaper]
All indications are pointing towards the need for commercial banks in the country to raise additional capital to be able to remain in business but Nigeria’s large foreign currency borrowings are said to be standing on their way.
Investigation by Daily Independent revealed that efforts by banks to attract foreign investors are not providing the needed response due to Nigeria’s debt position.
As at the first quarter of 2015, the country’s public debt stood at N12.06 trillion, a figure that has ballooned to N38 trillion as at last September, recording a growth of 208 percent. Still, the official statistics under- reports the actual amount owed.

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has expressed concern over the abduction of some of its adhoc members of staff in Imo.

Residents of Birnin-Waje, Dangurumfa, Dargaje, and Matseri, all in Bukkuyum Local Government Area of Zamfara State, have lamented the total power outage in their communities, which according to them, is hampering economic activities.
The residents in a statement issued on Sunday by the Secretary of the Birnin-Waje Community Development Association, Mr Sani Umar Waje, said these communities have continued to remain in darkness and economic activities at standstill, due to total power blackout for the past three months. The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has declared Mr Musa Agah of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) as the winner of Jos North/Bassa Federal Constituency by-election.
Dr Oyeyinka Oyeyinde, the INEC Returning Officer announced the result on Sunday in Jos.
Oyeyinde said that Agah scored 40,343 votes to beat his closest rival Mr Adam Alkali of Peoples Redemption Party (PRP) who came second 37, 757 votes. Read more.
