1. Fuel sells for N400/litre in Abuja, others, scarcity persists in Lagos [Punch Newspaper]
Residents of Abuja and neighbouring states of Niger and Nasarawa are still facing tough times sourcing for Premium Motor Spirit, popularly called petrol, with the commodity selling for as high as N400/litre by black marketers.
The development came almost one week after the import of millions of dirty PMS from Europe into Nigeria disrupted the fuel supply system of the country, leading to long queues nationwide.
2. Bad fuel: IPMAN, DAPPMA’s price war worsens scarcity [Vanguard Newspaper]
There were indications, yesterday, that the nation’s petrol shortage would worsen this week, following a sharp disagreement between the Independent Petroleum marketers Association of Nigeria, IPMAN, and Depot and Petroleum Products Marketers Association of Nigeria, DAPPMA, over fixing of the price of the product.
Efforts to get the Federal Government to react to the ongoing disagreement between the two groups last night failed, as officials contacted refused to speak on the matter.
“It is not possible for us to buy and sell at the same government-regulated price. We are being forced to sell to the public at N180 per litre after adding our transport cost”.
3. Lai Mohammed Berates Canada’s Double Standard over Protest [ThisDay Newspaper]
The federal government has condemned Canada for repressing truckers who were protesting over COVID-19 mandates and other restrictions in the country as insurrectionists. Minister of Information and Culture, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, yesterday, said the action of the Canadian government amounted to double standard.
Mohammed’s condemnation was a veiled reference to the anti-Nigeria government stance of Canada and other countries during the #EndSARS protest in October 2020, which culminated in the blockage of public roads and massive destruction of government and private property. Read more.
4. Suspected ‘ritualists’ set ablaze in Ogun state, human head concealed in a sack allegedly found on them [NewsWireNGR]
Two suspected ritualists have been set ablaze in Oja Odan, Yewa North Local Government Area of Ogun State.
Police Public Relations Officer in the state, Abimbola Oyeyemi, disclosed this via a statement issued on Sunday, warning Ogun residents are against taking the laws into their hands.
He said the suspects were arrested and taken to Oja Odan Divisional Headquarters following an allegation that a fresh human head, concealed in a sack, was seen with them.
5. Akwa Ibom State Governor dragged to court by “witches” for building a Christian worship centre [NewsWireNGR]
Governor Udom Emmanuel said the Akwa Ibom State Government has been taken to court by “witches” for building a Christian worship centre in the state, PREMIUM TIMES reports.
The multi-billion naira worship centre which is ongoing in Uyo has been criticised by many who felt it would have been better to use the money to tackle the many development needs of the oil-rich state.
