1. Marketers, labour warn as FG pushes refineries repairs to Buhari’s successor [Punch Newspaper]
The Trade Union Congress has restated its warning to the Federal Government not to remove fuel subsidy until the commencement of the local refining of crude oil.
On its part, the Independent Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria warned that without repairing refineries, fuel price hike was imminent.
Earlier on the NTA, the minister said he was hopeful that the Buhari regime would be able to complete 60 per cent of the repair of the two Port Harcourt refineries before leaving office while the ones at Warri and Kaduna would take much longer.
2. Higher oil prices pushing subsidy cost to N3.5trn [Vanguard Newspaper]
There are indications that the subsidy burden on the 2022 budget may worsen as oil industry experts forecast higher landing costs for imported petrol in the days ahead.
The prices of imports have been on the rise, following the rise in crude oil prices which hit $90.3 per barrel early in the week.
The Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation, NNPC, had estimated the subsidy cost at N3.0 trillion in the next 18 months based on the current landing cost of about N360 per litre.

Jennifer, one of the wives of former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, has confirmed her divorce to the former presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party.

Senator Rochas Okorocha has accused Imo state governor, Hope Uzodinma of being the mastermind of his probe by the Economic Financial Crime Commission (EFCC) over alleged N2.9 billion fraud.
The senator representing Imo West Senatorial District reacted to the EFCC probe through his Special Adviser on Media, Sam Onwuemeodo.

5. “We are stuck with our projects, we cannot get money” – Amaechi says China suspends funding to Nigeria [NewsWireNGR]
The Federal Government has blamed delays in completing some major projects, including railways, on the paucity of funds. Minister for Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi, who spoke to The Guardian NEWSPAPER, last weekend, hinted that the Chinese have stopped funding Nigerian government projects, leading to shopping for loans in Europe to complete existing jobs. The West African Examinations Council, WAEC has announced the immediate release of withheld results of candidates, exonerated of malpractices during the conduct of West African Senior School Certificate Examination, WASSCE for Private Candidates, 2020 – Second Series and WASSCE for Private Candidates, 2021- First Series.
This is as the body at the end of the 72th meeting of the Nigeria Examinations Committee, NEC, vowed to sanction those indicted of any malpractice during the conduct of the examinations. Read more.
