Ahead of the 2023 Presidential election, insinuations are rife that President Muhammadu Buhari is secretly wooing his predecessor in office, Dr. Goodluck Jonathan to the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC.
Jonathan, it would be recalled, conceded defeat while official results of the 2015 Presidential elections were being announced, a development that fetched him national and global acclaim.
After a few months of throwing jibes at each other particularly on how the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, allegedly mismanaged the affairs of the nation while in power, President Buhari appears to have made up with Jonathan as the two have been regularly meeting at the Aso Rock Villa behind closed-doors.
2. Banks’ credit to private sector rises 33% to N35trn [Vanguard Newspaper]
Banks’ credit to the private sector of the economy rose Year-on-Year (YoY) by 33.7 percent to N35.3 trillion in November 2021 from N26.4 trillion in the corresponding period of 2020.
Vanguard findings from the Money Statistics Data of the Central Bank of Nigeria, CBN, show that net domestic credit also rose YoY by 36 per cent to N48.3 trillion in November 2021 from N35.5 trillion in 2020, signifying an uptick in economic activities.

The Deputy Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party in Zamfara State, Professor Kabir Jabaka, has called on Governor Bello Matawalle to resign in order to save the state from the persistent kidnapping and killings of innocent people of the state.
Jabaka made the call when he addressed newsmen on the security situation in the state at the PDP state’s Secretariat in Gusau on Monday.
He said, “There are enough evidence to show that the current leadership in the state is insensitive to the alarming loss of innocent lives, continuous burning of private belongings and food items in almost every community across the state.”
He cited an instance of the Governor’s recent jamboree trip to Niger Republic to attend the annual wrestling festival where he paraded himself as a ‘dignified spectator’. Read more.
