Minister of Justice and Attorney-General of the Federation, Abubakar Malami(SAN), has stoked controversy with his latest claim that had President Muhammadu Buhari assented to the Electoral Act Amendment Bill, it would have precipitated crisis in the country.

2. 17 months enough to end insecurity before Buhari leaves office — Presidency [Vanguard News Nigeria]
The Presidency has said 17 months was enough time for the President Muhammadu Buhari-led administration to bring to an end the various security challenges plaguing the country.
President Buhari, who took over the presidential seat in 2015 for the period of four years was re-elected in 2019 and is expected to leave office in May 2023, about 17 months.
Speaking when he appeared on Sunday Politics on Channels Television, the Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, Chief Femi Adesina, said that President Buhari can still end insecurity in the country before his exit.
3. FG plans N12tn fresh borrowing, public debt to hit N50tn by 2023 [Punch Newspaper]
The Federal Government hopes to push its public debt stock to N50.22tn by 2023, with domestic debt at N28.75tn and external debt at N21.47tn.
This is according to the projections in the National Development Plan 2021-2025.
The Debt Management Office had disclosed that Nigeria’s public debt was N38tn as of the end of the third quarter of 2021, with the total debt stock rising by N2.540tn in three months from July to September 2021.
This shows that the regime of President Muhammadu Buhari (retd.), plans to accumulate about N12tn debt in two years from 2021 to 2023.
4. We shall continue our resolve to make Ogun oil producing state – Abiodun [Punch Newspaper]
The Ogun State Governor, Dapo Abiodun, says his administration is committed to making Ogun an oil-producing state in the country.
Abiodun said this while delivering a convocation lecture at the 2nd and 3rd convocation programmes of the Mountain Top University, with the topic, “Quest for excellence: The Nexus of faith, knowledge and resilience.”.
The governor said he was privileged to work as the chairman of the Olokola Free Trade Zone which sought to site a refinery in the state.
Abiodiun noted that the project was not just conceived with the aim of refining petroleum products only, but to take advantage of the mining lease that had been awarded around the corridor.
5. Annual robbery cases in Delta drop to 173 from 7,034 — Police [NewsWireNGR]
The Commissioner of Police in Delta, Mr Muhammed Ali, says crime statistics in the state dropped to 424 in 2021 from 2,013 recorded in 2020.
The Commissioner said this on Monday in Asaba at a security stakeholder meeting.
Ali said that only 173 armed robbery cases were reported in 2021, compared to 7,034 in 2020, stressing that 83 kidnap cases were recorded in 2021 as against 478 in 2020.
He added that 102 murder-related cases were recorded in 2021 as against 200 in 2020. Read More.
