1. APC: Buni, Marafa’s feud gets messier [Vanguard Newspaper]

The political spat between the National Chairman, Caretaker Extraordinary Convention Planning Committee, CECPC, of the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, Governor Mai Mala Buni of Yobe State and one of the party’s chieftains and former senator representing Zamfara Central, Senator Kabiru Marafa got messier yesterday as both men continued to issue threats through their proxies.

The party on its part has threatened to wield the big stick on Senator Marafa over his verbal attacks on Buni. The threats came 24 hours after Marafa declared the CECPC an illegal contraption and vowed to ensure its dissolution through the judiciary. Read more.

2. Fed Govt, ASUU on war path over unmet demands [The Nation Newspaper]

Academic activities may be paralysed in public universities nationwide following the threat by lecturers to embark on strike over unmet demands.

The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) yesterday issued a three-week ultimatum to the Federal Government to meet its demands or risk a fresh shutdown of the institutions.

But, the Federal Government has objected to the ultimatum, saying that it has started implementing the demands.

3. EndSARS: Lagos panel report indicts army, police over Lekki shooting [Vanguard Newspaper]

THE report of the Judicial Panel of Inquiry and Restitution on Lekki Toll Gate Shooting Incident and Cases of Police Brutality, as well as human rights violations, has indicted the Nigerian Army and the Police of complicity in the death of protesters at the Lekki Tollgate in 2020. Read more.

4. Terror financing: EFCC to beam searchlight on NGOs, says Bawa [The Nation Newspaper]

It will no longer be business as usual for Non-Profit Organisations (NPOs) operating in the Northeast, Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Mr. Abdulrasheed Bawa, said yesterday.

Bawa, who said the activities of some of the organisations have become worrisome, insisted that the anti-graft agency, henceforth, beam its searchlight on them.

5. World Bank: Boko Haram caused economic activities to decline in North-east by 50% [ThisDay Newspaper]

The World Bank has stated that the destruction caused by the Boko Haram sect caused economic activities in the north-eastern part of the country to decline by 50 per cent.

The multilateral institution noted that Adamawa, Borno and Yobe states which are in the Lake Chad region saw economic activities decline from 10 to 14 per cent between 2009 and 2013, adding that the region has recorded 50 per cent decline in activities from 2018.

6. Domestic airlines may demand proof of COVID-19 vaccination, says Ehanire [ThisDay Newspaper]

As the December deadline fixed for all federal civil servants to get vaccinated against COVID-19 draws near, the federal government is mulling the possibility of compelling passengers of domestic airlines to show evidence of vaccination.

The Minister of Health, Dr Osagie Ehanire, who gave the hint while speaking at the regular media briefing of the Presidential Steering Committee on COVID-19 yesterday, said it was commonplace in many foreign countries for people to show proof of COVID-19 vaccination, in order to be admitted to restaurants, cinemas, nightclubs, even to board aircraft on international flights.

7. Four banks borrow $6.21bn from foreign market amid dollar shortage [Punch Newspaper]

In a bid to support their balance sheets with foreign exchange, four banks in the country raised $6.21bn from foreign creditors between January and October 2021.

An analysis of reports shared on the issuer’s portal of the Nigerian Exchange Limited revealed that Access Bank Plc, Ecobank Transnational Incorporated, Fidelity Bank Plc and the United Bank for Africa Plc sought dollar liquidity through secure and unsecured notes, three of which listed their notes on the London Stock Exchange.

8. GMD charged with attempting to defraud CBN of $100m [Punch Newspaper]

The Group Managing Director of an oil marketing firm, Triumph Oil and Gas Madgascar Nigeria Limited, Ibrahim Mahmud, has been charged with attempt to defraud the Central Bank of Nigeria to the tune of $100 million.

9. Outrage greets Osun lawmaker’s semovita empowerment, campaign for Adeleke [Punch Newspaper]

THE lawmaker representing Ede North State Constituency in the Osun State House of Assembly, Mr. Niran Atidade, was attacked by social media users, as the pictures of packs of Semovita he distributed to his constituents went viral, on Monday.

Each bag of the food items had the message, “Go and get your PVC so you and I can vote Senator Nurudeen Adeleke as governor in 2022,” printed on it.

10. Troops kill 50 ISWAP fighters in Borno [DailyTrust Newspaper]

No fewer than 50 Islamic State West African Province (ISWAP) commanders and fighters were killed during a counteroffensive by troops in Askira Uba Local Government Area of Borno State, the Nigerian Army said Monday.
