Many feared dead as tanker ram into Bode market in Ibadan

Tragedy struck in Ibadan, the capital city of Oyo state, on Sunday morning when a tanker suddenly rammed into the popular Bode market, killing an unconfirmed number of persons and injuring many others.
In the report by Tribune Online, the gas tanker was coming from the Idi Arere axis when it lost control due to brake failure, thus crushing many traders, a tricycle, and a commercial motorcycle.
Eyewitness at the event said it occurred at around 8:30 am, further revealing that the loud impact of the gas tanker caused pandemonium.

At the time of filing this report, officers of the Oyo State and Federal Fire Service, including officers of the Federal Roads Safety Corps (FRSC) and the Nigeria Police were at the scene. The dual carriage expressway from Beere to Idi Arere and Bode, shortly before the flyover bridge was also closed to traffic
Confirming the incident, the Oyo State Commander of the Federal Roads Safety Corps (FRSC), Mrs Uche Winifred Chukwura said, “the accident occurred this morning at Bode market, but our people are still there evacuating the debris and casualty.
“For now, we cannot give a specific figure of the casualty. I would get back to you later on the number of people that died in the accident.”
