Former housemate of Nigeria’s most popular reality TV show, Big Brother Naija, Natacha Akide better known as Tacha has Sunday, reacted angrily to those who criticized Nyesom Wike, Governor of Rivers State gesture to Burna Boy.
Burna Boy, whose real name is Damini Ogulu, alongside his parents and management team paid him a courtesy visit at the Government House, Port Harcourt on Saturday after winning the coveted Grammy awards.
An elated Wike described Burna Boyas the pride of the state and he gifted the artiste alongside other musicians who performed at the homecoming party, N10 million each.
Other reports say the 29-year-old artiste was also given a plot of land to build for himself a home.
“Those of you who have come to play, whatever you have agreed with the Ministry of Culture and Tourism is not my business,” the governor said.
“All of you that have come today and the Niger Delta people that have come to play today to show the talent you have, I’m very proud of you. All of you will go home with N10 million each.”
The governor however came under criticism from what some Nigerians tagged as wasteful spending.
Especially as the governor’s donation comes a week after public school protested over five years non-payment of salaries by the Rivers government.
The protesting teachers told journalists that they have lost about ten of their colleagues due to the hardship experienced within the period.
However, taking to her Twitter page on Sunday to react to the criticism that has trailed the event, Tacha said that the entertainment industry in Rivers State is dead, hence Wike deserves praise for his actions despite having a poor performance in office.
“So I am not a fan of Governor Wike because he has not done much for the people of the state,” she said.
“But you are mad to think what Governor Wike did yesterday for Burna Boy was unnecessary or not priority.
“You guys don’t know my city. Entertainment in my city is dead. Literarily, nightlife is gone and dead, carnivals blown out of the window.
“So for him to say Burna Boy, come let me give you a land, let me give you 10m and you people think that’s too much.
“You are crazy, you are losing it. Burna Boy should have a whole town named after him. He won a Grammy, not like some local or interstate award.”
She added that the state should even dedicate a public holiday to celebrate the artiste for his feat.
“He (Burna Boy) should even have like public holidays dedicated to him. So you here crying and whining that is that his priority? You are mad.”
