Nigerian music icon Innocent “2Baba” Idibia has clarified why he failed to perform at the scheduled launch of his UK tour in London on Thursday, firmly denying widespread speculation that he was arrested by UK police.
The highly anticipated first stop of the tour, packaged by Nero Experience and Nero Entertainment, was set for 1 Mark Lane, opposite Fenchurch Street Station. However, despite fans turning up, 2Baba did not appear, leading to immediate speculation on social media.
Medical Emergency, Not Arrest, Caused Cancellation
In a video posted on his Instagram page Friday, the Benue-born singer, who traveled to the UK with his wife, Natasha Osawaru (a member of the Edo State House of Assembly), addressed the rumors head-on.
2Baba denied any run-in with the police, explaining that he missed the London show due to a sudden medical emergency.
“First of all, I want to appreciate everybody who came out. We had a medical emergency, and it was tough,” the singer explained. “So, to the organizers and everybody that came out there, we will regroup and make something very beautiful happen. And if you don’t know something, please don’t talk about it.”
The singer’s UK tour is scheduled to hit multiple cities, including Birmingham, Glasgow, Bristol, and Cardiff.
Tracking 2Baba’s Previous Legal and Domestic Incidents
While 2Baba is a celebrated figure, his career has not been without controversy, including several high-profile incidents that have drawn media scrutiny:
- 2025 UK Arrest Speculation: The recent unfounded reports of an arrest stemmed from alleged domestic trouble with his current wife, Natasha Osawaru.
- Previous Domestic Allegations (Annie Idibia): Following his marriage to actress Annie Idibia (the marriage was annulled prior to his current marriage), the couple’s relationship frequently became media fodder. One widely reported but unconfirmed incident involved allegations of a domestic altercation where Annie allegedly threw a bottle at him during a heated argument.
- Assault and Theft Allegations: The artist has also faced legal challenges unrelated to domestic life, including past reports of alleged assault and theft incidents, which have, at various times, led to arrests or police involvement over the years.
2Baba and Natasha held their private traditional wedding in July in Maitama, Abuja. Since marrying, the couple has frequently appeared together in public.
