The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Adamawa State Command, said it has deployed 1,504 officers across all polling units of 21 LGA’s to ensure security of Local Council Elections in Adamawa.
The Commands PRO, DSC Nyako Baba, made this known in a statement, on Thursday in Yola.
Baba said the exercise was to ensure citizens, electoral officers, and election materials both sensitive and non-sensitive across all polling units were safe and secured.
He said that the deployment was also to ensure the smooth conduct of the electoral process, and to enable citizens freely cast their votes.
According to Baba, the NSCDC Commandant, Ibrahim Mainasara, instructed all personnel to demonstrate utmost professionalism and to collaborate closely with other security agencies.
He said the command had enhanced patrols and intelligence gathering efforts to facilitate proactive responses in the state.
“We count on timely and reliable information from the public to promptly address any potential threats to peace.
“Additionally, the public is informed of temporary restrictions on movement and the closure of public spaces such as markets, motor parks, and recreation centres.
“This will be from 8:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., on Saturday July 13, with exceptions for essential services,” he noted.
Mainasara further urged citizens to responsibly participate in the electoral process, while carrying out their lawful activities peacefully.
