2023: US government reveals interest in Nigeria’s elections

The United States (US) has disclosed its interest in the Nigeria 2023 upcoming elections is “in supporting credible, transparent, and peaceful elections that represent the will of Nigerians”.

This was stated by Will Stevens, the Consul General for the US Mission in Lagos, at the International Anti-Corruption Day event over the weekend.

Stevens however noted that the US has no preferred political party involved in the 2023 elections in Nigeria.

According to him: “Focusing on the upcoming elections in Nigeria, let me be very clear, the United States does not have a preferred candidate or party in the upcoming election.

“We urged all Nigerians to reject the use of violence and inflammatory rhetoric during and after election day.”
