Governor Wike wins committee votes, to emerge as Atiku’s Vice Presidential running mate

Rivers State Governor Ezenwo Nyesom Wike was likely to emerge as the VICE presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP.
Sources within the party tell NewsWireNGR, that Wike scored 13, the highest votes cast by the party committee set up by the party’s flagbearer, former Vice President Atiku Abubakar.
But party officials say only the candidate will make the last decision, but Wike defeated the Delta State Governor, Ifeanyi Okowa.
During the party’s convention, in a result of the primary election announced by the Chief Returning Officer, Senator David Mark announced that Atiku polled 371 votes to defeat his primary challenger and Governor of Rivers State, Mr Nyesom Wike. He came second after he scored 237 votes.
In the meantime, the National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, Iyiochia Ayu, expressed confidence that the party and its presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, would present within the next 48 hours a running mate Nigerians would relate well with and vote for office.
Ayu gave this assurance in his opening remarks at the meeting with members of the consultative committee to assist Atiku in choosing a running mate.
He explained that the meeting was in furtherance of consultations to arrive at a choice that Nigerians would be glad to elect into office.
Ayu said, “The presidential candidate of our party would have been here, but he suddenly dashed somewhere this morning.
“He apologised, and if he comes early, he will join us. But we will go ahead with the assignment he has given us.
“The candidate wrote to us, as the administrative arm of the party, on the choice of his running mate.
