Just In: Protesting Student shot dead in Kaduna

A student of the Kaduna State College of Education, Gidan Waya, Jema’a Local Government Area of Kaduna State, has been shot dead.

Daily Trust reports that the deceased had joined his other students who were protesting over hike in school fees.

The student was shot dead when security operatives tried to forcefully disperse them

One of the protesting students who spoke anonymously to reporters, said they came out to protest over the increase of school fees in the state-owned institution when they met security operatives outside the college.

The Kaduna State government in April announced an increase of tuition fees in all its tertiary institutions. The Kaduna State College of Education, is one of these tertiary institutions  as programmes in the College of Education was increased to N75,000.
