COVID-19: FG issues new protocol for returnees & evacuees

The Federal Government of Nigeria has issued new protocols for persons arriving in the country from abroad including evacuees.

The new protocol which was issued by the Presidential Task Force on COVID-19 includes mandatory 14-days isolation for all evacuees and returnees.

The returnees/evacuees are also expected to fill the Nigeria Health Declaration/Passenger Self-Reporting Form and submit their International Passport to the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) for special clearance until after the 14 days quarantine is successfully completed.

They are also mandated to present themselves for a repeat COVID-19 PCR test on arrival in Nigeria within 24 to 48 hours at a facility to be determined by the government.

According to the new protocol, the returnees/evacuees will Provide contact details to include a valid phone number and address where they will self-isolate/quarantine”.

They would also be responsible for their transport and accommodation during the period of self-isolation/quarantine in Lagos or Abuja.

Lastly, they would be subject to the provisions of extant Public Health Laws (including prosecution) if they fail to abide by the conditions.
