1. Atiku, Wike, Saraki, 11 others go for broke as PDP primary begins [Punch Newspaper]

Former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar; Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike; his Sokoto State counterpart, Aminu Tambuwal; and a former Senate President, Bukola Saraki, are among the frontline presidential aspirants who will contest the primary of the main opposition Peoples Democratic Party today (Saturday).

Others are Governor Udom Emmanuel of Akwa Ibom State; his Bauchi State counterpart, Bala Mohammed; a former governor of Ekiti State, Ayodele Fayose; a former Senate President, Pius Anyim; Diana Teriela, the only woman in the race; former FSB Managing Director, Muhammed Hayatu-Deen; media mogul, Dele Momodu; a pharmacist, Sam Ohuabunwa; Charles Ugwu and Chikwendu Kalu.

2. Supreme Court gives go ahead for the probe of Rotimi Amaechi on alleged N96 billion fraud [NewsWireNGR]

The Supreme Court has dismissed an appeal filed by Minister of Transportation Rotimi Amaechi seeking to stop his probe over an alleged N96 billion fraud.

In a lead judgment prepared by Justice Amina Augie but read by Justice Adamu Jairo, the apex court dismissed the appeal of Mr Amaechi on grounds that the issue of not being given a fair hearing does not arise as no one is on trial. Read more.

3. Senator Abaribe announces new party after dumping PDP [NewsWireNGR]

Former Senate Minority Leader, Enyinnaya Abaribe, has joined the All Progressive Grand Alliance (APGA) after dumping the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

The former deputy governor of Abia state confirmed this on Friday and disclosed he would be participating in the party’s senatorial primaries tomorrow (Saturday).

A member of the APGA Board of Trustees BoT, Chief Ahamdi Nweke, also confirmed that Senator Abaribe “is now fully with APGA”. Read more.

4. 2023: Adamawa female senator, Binani, defeats Ribadu, Bindow to emerge APC guber candidate [NewsWireNGR]

Senator Aisha Dahiru Ahmed Binani has emerged as the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate in Adamawa State.

Announcing the results in Yola, the state capital, the election committee chairman, Malam Gambo, said Binani scored the highest number of votes in the election, which was contested by some heavyweights in the state.

Binani scores 430 votes while Nuhu Ribadu, former chairman, Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), trailed with 288 votes. Read more.

5. Former President Jonathan cleared to contest  2023 presidency [NewsWireNGR]

The Federal High Court sitting in Yenagoa has ruled that former President Goodluck Jonathan is eligible to contest the 2023 presidential election.

The presiding judge, Justice Isa Hamma Dashen gave the judgement on Friday.

He also held that Jonathan’s right to vie for the office of president again cannot be stopped by any retroactive law.

Jonathan has been linked to the APC Presidential race as a group purchased the N100 million forms for him. Read more.
