“I Have Handed Over Back to Buhari” – Vice President Osinbajo Says

Vice-President Yemi Osinbajo on Monday said he had formally handed over back to President Muhammadu Buhari.

Osinbajo said this in an interview with State House correspondents shortly after briefing the President of developments in the polity while he was away.

He had held fort for Buhari as the Acting President while the President was on medical vacation in London.

The Vice-President said Buhari was “over ready” for the work and that they met for over one hour on national issues such as the state of the 2017 Budget among others. 

He said the President was pleased with his performance while he was Acting in his absence. 

Meanwhile, President Muhammadu Buhari has formally resumed duty, over 50 days after he delegated his authority to Vice President Yemi Osinbajo.

The president’s spokesperson, Femi Adesina, confirmed the resumption on Monday morning in a statement.

According to the statement, Mr. Bu?hari wrote the Senate President and Speaker of the House of Representatives, notifying them of his resumption on Monday.

The president arrived Nigeria on Friday after 50 days of medical vacation in the UK.
