A Gudu Upper Area Court, Abuja, on Friday admitted a 31-year-old businessman, Silas Nuhu, to bail in the sum of N13 million over a charge of cheating.

Nuhu was charged with cheating Blessing Nwondu of the sum of 30, 000 dollars.

The judge, Alhaji Umar Kagarko, ordered that the defendant must produce one surety who lived within the court’s jurisdiction and adjourned the case till Nov. 23 for hearing.

Nuhu of American International School, Durunmi, Abuja, was arraigned on a three-count charge of criminal misappropriation, breach of trust and cheating.

The prosecutor, Patrick Ebong, told the court that Nwondu wrote a petition to the Commissioner of Police, FCT, Abuja, on Aug. 17.

He said the plaintiff met the defendant through the internet sometime in February.

Ebong said in the course of discussions the defendant deceived the complainant by promising to build a social network, named Mustad Plus, for him.

He further said that based on trust and confidence, the complainant entrusted 30, 000 dollars to the defendant with which he started work but failed to complete it.

Ebong said the defendant converted the sum to his personal use and all efforts made for him to return the money proved abortive.

He said the offences contravened Sections 309, 312 and 322 of the Penal Code.

The defendant pleaded not guilty to the charges.
