British Artiste, Adele, Named The Richest Female Musician In The UK

British artiste, Adele, has been named the richest female musician in the United Kingdom (UK) as her best-selling album “25” added 30 million pounds (43 million dollars) to her fortune putting her top of the Sunday Times newspaper’s Young Musicians 2016 rich list for performers under 30.

The worldwide hit which was released last November, pushed the 27-year-old’s fortune to 85 million pounds, lifting her to 30th place in the papers 2016 list of the wealthiest performers and composers in Britain and Ireland while the only female singer with a bigger fortune on the list is Irishwoman, Enya, on £91m.

Adele topped the 2012 Sunday Times Rich List of musicians in the UK under 30 and is on the list for the fifth year running.

She is also ranked top of the Young Music Rich List, covering those aged 30 and under and made the top 10 of Billboard magazine’s ‘Top 40 Money Makers’

Adele broke the record for the longest number-1 album by a woman in billboard history, formerly held by Whitney Houston’s soundtrack ‘the bodyguard’, with 21 non-consecutive weeks at number 1 in the US.

The list which ranks Britain and Ireland’s richest musicians and performers was published ahead of the annual Sunday Times Rich List this weekend.

Paul McCartney, former Beatle, tops the musicians’ rich list for a second year in a row with a combined fortune of 760 million pounds with his wife, Nancy Shevell, which is a rise of 30 million on last year.

McCartney was followed by composer Andrew Lloyd Webber, with 715 million pounds, while the Rolling Stones were Britain and Ireland’s wealthiest band with the fortunes of its four members totalling 630 million pounds.

Irish band U2, whose fortune jumped to 500 million from 431 million pounds, was the highest-grossing rock act last year selling 1.29 million tickets worth 66 million pounds for 76 concerts.

Singer/songwriter, Ed Sheeran, had jumped five places making him the second-richest young performer after Adele and propelling him into the main music list for the first time.

The late David Bowie’s family, who inherited 70 million pounds from his will, was also a new addition to the list with a combined fortune of 90 million pounds.
