Fallout From Kogi Guber Polls: Market Women Stage Peace Pro-Faleke Protest In Kabba

The last has surely not been heard from supporters of aggrieved deputy gubernatorial candidate of the APC in the Kogi 2015 governorship elections, James Faleke.

Reports from Kabba area of the state, indicate that Traders under the aegis of the National Association of Market Women and Men of Nigeria Kabba/Bunu Local Government Area of Kogi State took to the streets to stage a peaceful protest to express support for the Audu/Faleke governorship ticket of the APC.

At a rally in Kabba, the protesters called on the leadership of the All Progressives Congress to ensure that the former APC deputy governorship candidate to late Abubakar Audu, James Faleke replaces the late governor-elect in the interest of peace, justice, and fairness.

It was one of the several protests that have been held in Kogi State in the recent time; an indication that the last may not have been heard on the Kogi governorship tussle which appears to have created factions within the APC.

The market women and men from the West Senatorial District of the state gathered at the central market, holding placards with different inscription, demanding that Mr Faleke is allowed to replace the late Audu as governor-elect.

They said that their votes from the western part of the state was cast for Mr James Faleke on the basis of the initial understanding they had, asking the party leadership to do the right thing.

In a related development, the governor-elect, Mr Yahaya Bello has pledged to work with aggrieved stakeholders in Kogi, to move the state forward. Regarding the rumoured division in the party, he said that this has been sorted out and every member of the party has agreed to work together with him to bring development to the state.

Bello reiterated that his emergence as governor-elect is legitimate. He also said that he had started reaching out to aggrieved members of the party because ensuring that differences are resolved and the state is moved forward for the good of the people of the state is more important.
