Just In: Again, Nasarawa Governor Al-Makura Pelted With Stones In Keffi

Governor Tanko Al-Makura was again the target of stone-throwing youths in Keffi, the state capital.

The police revealed today that the governor’s convoy was pelted with pebbles by irate youths when he attended the burial of the Emir of Keffi, Alhaji Mohammadu Yamusa II at the weekend.

The governor was also abused by the youths, the police said.

The Nasarawa State Police Command said today that it has arrested eight persons for attacking the governor.

The state Police Command Public Relation Officer, Ismaila Umar-Numan, said:

“As I am talking to you, eight persons have been arrested over the attack on Gov.Tanko Al-Makura during the burial of the late Emir of Keffi, Alhaji Mohammadu Yamusa II on Friday.

“The police will continue to maintain law and order in the state considering the importance of peace to the socio-economic development of the state and the country at large,“ he said.

Umar-Numan said that the suspects were being investigated and called on the youths in the state not to take the law into their hands.

During the campaign for the April 11 election, Al-Makura was similarly stoned by some hoodlums in Mararaba Gurku area of Karu local government area of the state.
