Bayelsa Polls: Again Card Reader Fails To Accredit Former President Jonathan, Wife

Just like it happened during the March 28 presidential poll, the card reader for the Bayelsa State governorship election has failed to function at the polling unit in front of former President Goodluck Jonathan’s house.

The president was to be accredited at Otazi Playground, Polling Unit 039, Ward 13, Otuoke, Ogbia Local Government Area.

President Jonathan and his wife, Patience, had approached the polling unit at about 8:45 a.m, but were quickly urged by the INEC Resident Electoral Commissioner in the state, Baritor Kpagih, to return home on account of malfunctioning card reader.

After repeated attempts, they were eventually accredited between 9:50 and 10:00a.m.

President Jonathan and his wife’s cards were accepted by the card reader, while those of the president’s mother and other family members were rejected. They were eventually accredited manually.
