A group, Sokoto State Association of Women in Politics (SSAWP), on Friday condemned the siege on the residence of former National Security Adviser (NSA), Col. Sambo Dasuki (rtd.) by the Department of State Security ( DSS), describing the action as an encroachment on his fundamental rights.

Speaking with THISDAY in Sokoto on Friday, its Coordinator, Hajiya Kulu Abdullahi Rabah, flayed the DSS for laying siege to the residence of Dasuki despite the court order that granted him permission to travel abroad for medical checkup.

She maintained that Dasuki was legally allowed to travel abroad for medical treatment by a competent court of law and as such it was wrong for the operatives of the DSS to confine him to house arrest without recourse to due process.

Hajiya Rabah said the action of the DSS had shown that President Muhammadu Buhari’s fight against corruption was selective.

According to her, the operatives of the DSS are becoming tools being used against those in the opposition and perceived enemies of the present government.

While condemning the DSS action on the encroachment of Dasuki’s fundamental rights, she promised to lead other women in the state to demand for justice against such action.

She vowed that the Association would not hesitate to drag the Federal Government and the DSS to court in order to compel them to allow Dasuki to travel abroad.
