The Kogi state chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has commended President Muhammadu Buhari for distancing himself from the governorship candidate of the All Progressive Congress (APC) in the state, Abubakar Audu.

PDP, in a statement by its publicity secretary in the state, Bode Ogunmola said Buhari’s staying away from Audu’s campaign is a testimony that Audu is corrupt and could be a stain to his anti-corruption war.

According to the statement, the party said the president has proven that he is above board and would not be swayed by his party’s sentiments to drum his blessings to a candidate that is yet to prove his innocence in a corruption charge.

PDP described its gubernatorial candidate and the incumbent governor, Capt. Idris Wada as the best choice for the people of the state, pointing out that Wada is not only incorruptible but prudent, transparent and humble.

The party said the body-language of president Buhari is quite obvious, pointing out that a man like him who is well known for his integrity will not allow his image to be dragged to the mud.

The statement further vowed that the PDP will continue to support and join hands in the fight against corruption in Nigeria.
