Just In: NEMA Confirms 27 Death, 96 Critically Injured In Explosion Targeted At Jambutu Mosque Yola, Adamawa State

At least 27 people were killed in a bomb blast at a newly-inaugurated mosque in Yola, northeast Nigeria, on Friday, the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) said.

“So far we have 27 dead and 96 injured,” NEMA’s co-ordinator in the Adamawa state capital, Sa’ad Bello.

The explosion occurred this afternoon during Jumuat Service at a mosque in Jambutu area of Jimeta, Adamawa State. Jimeta is a suburb of Yola, the Adamawa State Capital.

Emergency workers have so far evacuated victims to Specialist Hospital in Jimeta and Federal Medical Centre in Yola.

Sources say the mosque was newly repainted and the explosion occurred at the perimeter of the crowded mosque.

A Female suicide bomber is said to have targeted the mosque according to eyewitness accounts.
