The All Progressives Congress has cancelled the result of the governorship primary election held in Bayelsa state on Tuesday.

Timipre Sylva, a former governor of Bayelsa, was declared as the candidate by a member of the election committee but it was widely condemned as the election was marred by violence and intimidation by thugs loyal to Sylva.

The exercise was marred by violence, thuggery, intimidation of some aspirants and meddlesomeness by some state party officials.

The Chairman of the Electoral Committee and Governor of Edo State, Mr. Adams Oshiomhole, was held hostage and was later smuggled out of the venue by operatives of the Department of State Security (DSS) and soldiers.

APC Chairman, John Odigie-Oyegun, stated on Wednesday, that the primary had now been rescheduled due to security reasons and violence.
