Buhari Denies Appointing Chief Of Staff, Also Said He Never Ordered Arrest Of Brother-in-Law

The presidency has denied reports that President Muhammadu Buhari has named his chief of staff.

 Rumours emerged on Monday claiming that President Buhari has appointed Colonel Hamidu Ali as his Chief of Staff.

The president’s spokesperson, Femi Adesina, however said no appointment had been made.

Buhari has been under pressure of late to announce his personal staff and cabinet positions, one month after his inauguration.

Also, reports that the President has ordered the Department of State Service (DSS) to arrest his wife’s younger brother, Musa Yola, over suspicion of fraud, are untrue.

Presidential spokesperson, Garba Shehu, denied the report stating that: “It is definitely not true, there is no iota of truth in the report, there is no basis for the president to do that.”

Reports posted online said President Buhari ordered the DSS to arrest Mr. Yola after he duped a businessman N300 million promising to aid him acquire an oil bloc.

The reports also said Mr. Yola had refunded the money and that he was granted bail by the DSS.
