Scheduled Meeting With Senate President Saraki And APC Leaders ‘Cancelled’

Senate President Bukola Saraki was scheduled to meet with John Oyegun, national chairman of the All Progressives Congress? (APC), and members of the party’s National Working Committee (NWC) at 12:45 pm on Thursday, but it has now been called off.

There’s been an internal crisis in the APC, since 28 senators were gathered at the International Conference Centre, Abuja, waiting for President Muhammadu Buhari, who was billed to address them when the Clerk of the National Assembly, Alhaji Salisu Maikasuwa, proclaimed the Eighth Senate and subsequently conducted the election on Tuesday.

The election, which had 23 APC senators in attendance, produced Saraki as President of the senate while Senator Ike Ekweremadu was elected as the deputy,

Bamikole Omishore, Saraki’s media aide, sent out a message at 12:25, which read: “?His Excellency, Distinguished Senate President, Dr Abubakar Bukola Saraki, will be at APC party secretariat at 12:45 to meet chairman and NWC.

Press, please take note.” But a few minutes later, he sent another message, terse this time: “Apologies, meeting has been cancelled.”

Omishore did not state any reason for the cancellation of the meeting.
