PDP Senator Ike Ekweremadu Emerges Nigeria’s Deputy Senate President Of The 8th National Assembly

Senate Ike Ekweremadu of opposition Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, has just been elected Deputy President of Nigeria Senate to deputies Senator Bukola Saraki of the All Progressives Congress, APC.

Total number of votes  cast were 75, one absentee, Ndume got 20 votes while Ekeremadu emerged with 54 votes to become Nigeria’s Deputy Senate President.

Ike Ekweremadu is a Nigerian lawyer from Enugu State and a member of the People’s Democratic Party who has been a senator since May 2003 and is now for the third time, Deputy President of the 8th Nigerian Senate.

Ike Ekweremadu was born in 1962 at Amachara Mpu in Aninri Local Government Area of Enugu State, and is of Igbo origin.

He holds both Bachelors and Masters Degree in Law from the University of Nigeria, Nigeria and was called to the Nigerian Bar in 1987.

He also holds Doctor of Philosophy Degree in Law from the University of Abuja, Nigeria.
