Breaking: APC Lawmakers Forced ‘To Sign Undertaking’ On Choice Of Senate President & Speaker

?All Progressives Congress’ lawmakers-elect are reportedly being forced to sign an undertaking pledging to abide by the party’s choice of candidates for the leadership of the 8th national assembly.

NewsWireNGR recalls that five presidential aspirants on the platform of the All Progressives Congress, APC, were also forced to sign a Letter of Commitment which compels them to remain in the party even after losing out in the primary election.

The undertaking also mandates them to collapse their individual campaign structures into that of the party for effective campaign of the eventual flag bearer of the party in the 2015 general election.

Sources tells TheCable that the party hierarchy would conduct an internal election for its lawmakers on Saturday. “The aim of the election is to present sole candidates for the positio?n of senate president and speaker of the house of representatives,” he said.

“The party is trying to avoid a situation in which its lawmakers will be divided next Tuesday when the national assembly election will take place.

“The party does not want the lawmakers to undermine its supremacy. What we want do is to avoid crisis. We know there will be hiccups, but we will get through them.”

The APC leadership is currently meeting with its house of representatives member?s-elect at the International Conference Centre (ICC) in Abuja. The meeting is replete with occasional shouts of “no, no”?. A sole candidate for speaker of the house is expected to emerge after the meeting?.
