Breaking: INEC Declares Amosun Winner Of Ogun State Governorhsip Election

Incumbent governor and the All Progressive Congress (APC) gubernatorial flagbearer in.Ogun state, Ibikunle Amosun has been declared the winner of the gubernatorial polls in the state.

The INEC Returning Officer who announced the result in Abeokuta, the state capital, said Mr Amosun clinched 306,988 votes closest to his opponent, Mr. Gboyega Isiaka of the PDP who had 201,440 votes. This is the first governorship result to be announced.

Gov. Amosun is poised to be sworn in on May 29th, for another four years tenure, having been bestowed the Ogun peoples mandate once again.

In other states, where the process went fairly smoothly, collation is still on going, as results of certain local governments collation units are being released. In Kaduna State, INEC has been announcing results from different local government areas, with Nasir el-Rufai (APC) in the lead against incumbent Ramalan Yero of the PDP

In some other states where the governorship and House of Assembly elections took place on Saturday; collation is still ongoing as results continue to trickle in.

Among the states considered to be the battleground areas is the nation’s commercial city, Lagos, where the opposition Peoples Democratic Party is fighting to unseat the All Progressives Congress.

The attention of aspirants, party agents, journalists and members of the electorate is firmly fixed at the INEC situation room in Lagos, where collation of results seems ongoing.
