Breaking: INEC Moves To Investigate Rivers State Results, Sets Up Committee #Nigeriadecides

The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC has called for an investigation into the Presidential and National Assembly election results in Rivers state following reports of irregularities by the All Progressives Congress, APC.

In a statement issued a while ago, INEC has set up a fact finding mission to ascertain the veracity of the claims and allegations and to advice the Commission.

The Committee set up comprises of:
-Mrs. Thelma Iremiren
-Col. MK Hammanga
-Prof. Lai Olurode

Members of the Committee have departed for Rivers and it is expected they will submit their report before the end of collation of general results..

NewsWireNGR recalls that the executive governor of the state, Mr Rotimi Amaechi refused to cast his ballots over what he termed refusal by the Presiding officer to make available the result sheets.

INEC commences fact finding mission in Rivers State

Following allegations made by the APC on the conduct of the Presidential and Senatorial elections held in Rivers State, the Independent National Electoral Commission has set up a fact finding committee to investigate these allegations.

The commission made this public through a press statement on Monday 30 March 2015. Committee members include Mrs. Thelma Iremirem, Col. M.K Hammanga, and Proffesor Lai Olurode.

The statement which was signed by the Secretary of the commission Mrs Augusta Ogakwu stated that the members of the committee have departed for Rivers State and are expected to report before the completion of the collation being held in Abuja.

Following the consideration of the report, the commission will make its decision known.
