Presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and incumbent president, Goodluck Jonathan has lost one of the two polling units situated right inside the Presidential Villa to closest opponent Muhammadu Buhari of the All Progressive Congress (APC).

Citizen reports indicate that in polling unit 022, Mr. Buhari scored 348 votes to Mr. Jonathan’s 302; while at the second polling unit inside the villa, 021, Mr. Jonathan’s 293 votes edged 265, scored by Gen. Muhammadu Buhari.

In like manner, the APC also faired better in the Senatorial election, as it scored 260 votes at PU 021 and 337 at PU 022  as against PDP’s 286 and 281 respectively.

However, in the House of Representatives election results for the similar polling units, at PU 021, APC scored 255 votes and PDP 254 votes. For PU 22. The PDP got 241 votes and the APC garnered 334 votes.

It should be clearly stated that, this result doesn’t reflect the overall result of the entire general elections, and hence, does not imply that President Jonathan has lost the election. Also noteworthy is that the president does not vote in any of the two locations, but most of those who do are believed to be his aides, presidential villa staff and loyalists.

Defeat in those polling units does not necessarily translate to Mr. Jonathan losing the election.
