A Chief Magistrates’ Court in Ebute Meta, Lagos, on Tuesday remanded in prison a man, Musibau Sulaimon, who allegedly stole N14, 000 from one Francis Chukwuemeka and stabbed him with a dagger.

The accused, a labourer from Ayetoro in Ogun, was arraigned on a three-count charge of conspiracy, stealing and causing bodily harm.

Sulaimon, however, pleaded guilty to two of the three-count charge preferred against him.

The prosecutor, Insp Emmanuel Silas, told the court that the offences were committed on Feb. 11 at about 7.00 p.m. on Iddo-Idumota Bridge on Lagos Island.

Silas alleged that the accused and another still at large used a dagger to threaten and dispossess Chukwuemeka and his friend, Sunday Nwuda, of their phones and N14, 000.

“Not satisfied, Sulaimon went further to stab Chukwuemeka on the head, hand and various parts of his body causing him serious harm,’’ he said.

He said the offences contravened sections 243, 278 and 411 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2011.

The Magistrate, Mrs M.O. Tanimola, ordered that the accused be remanded at Ikoyi Prisons till March 23 for presentation of facts and sentencing.
