The PDP governorship candidate in Borno, Alhaji Mohammed Alkali-Imam, has condemned the bomb attack on Biu on Wednesday. The candidate made the condemnation at a news conference in Gombe on Friday.
NewsWireNgr had reported, that a female suicide bomber detonated a bomb, on Thursday evening, in a market in Biu, Borno State; that left about seven persons dead.
Alhaji Alkali-Imam said his team was on its way to Biu to campaign when the town was attacked resulting in the death of many people and many others injured.
“We had concluded a tour of Bayo, Kwaya Kusar, Shani and Hawul Local Governments Areas of Borno.
“Unfortunately, a bomb was detonated in the commercial nerve centre an hour to our arrival in Biu.
“It is really unfortunate, I condemn it in totality and I want to use this medium to commiserate with the affected, particularly the Emir of Biu, Mai Umar Aliyu Mustapha, citizens of Biu and the entire citizens of Borno.
“I urge security agencies to quickly find the culprits and to curtail such occurrence in the future”, he said.
Director of Media of the campaign team, Mr Inuwa Bwala, called on security operatives to arrest the perpetrators and bring them to book as quickly as possible.
The attack on Biu, comes as a blight in a period that has seen the war against insurgency gain considerable progress. The regional joint force of the armies of neighbouring Chad and Niger, together with Nigerian troops, have lately, pushed the insurgents away from mainstream Borno state, as well as the invasion of dreaded Sambisa Forest, by the Nigerian soldiers.
