“There Will Be More Years To Celebrate” Atiku Cancels Birthday Dinner In Reaction To Kano Bombing

Nigeria’s Former Vice President, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar today cancelled his 68th birthday celebration dinner at @THISDAYLIVE Dome, in reaction to Kano Bomb Blast.

At least 120 people were killed and 270 others wounded on Friday when two suicide bombers blew themselves up and gunmen opened fire on a Muslim congregation at Friday prayers in the central mosque in northern Nigeria’s largest city of Kano, a rescue official said.

The All Progressives Congress Presidential aspirants stated that he could not in good conscience continue with the celebration when the national mood is that of mourning.

“There will be more years to celebrate birthdays, but tonight is a sad and sober one for Nigeria. It’s best we just pray at home” – @atiku

“I appeal to all who are able, to send donations to the victims of the bomb blast and IDPs in the North East.” – @atiku

After Christian and Muslim prayers were said for the victims of the bomb blast and terror attacks, @Atiku left the venue.

The event become a prayer session for victims of terror and safety of the country at large.
