The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Chief John Oyegun has hailed the defection of the speaker of the House of Representatives, Hon Aminu Tambuwal to the APC describing it as a ‘big fish’

Oyegun who spoke to Channels Television, said “It is Absolutely big fish, absolutely delightful and sensational.

“Today we count among our fold the number four citizen of this great nation and we have only three to go. It can’t be truly better,” a delighted Oyegun said.

“I want to welcome Honourable Aminu Tambuwal to the fold of the APC.”

Chief Oyegun pointed out that Tambuwal’s body language had been clear that he was not feeling at home where he was, emphasising that “he can now feel at home”having joined the opposition APC.

Chief Oyegun also noted that Tambuwal would not be made to resign as speaker following his defection from the Peoples Democratic Party, the platform on which he became Speaker.

“The defection will not bring litigations against him.

“We do not even have time for litigation. By the time the House comes back from recess on December 2, it will be just a month to the elections.

“It is a decided issue. If you remember the Atiku-Obasanjo case, the Supreme court decided that Atiku was not in breach of the law when he left the PDP as the Vice President,” he said, insisting that “whatever the situation is, anybody can move from one party to the other”.

“Even if they try, they won’t get away with it anyway. I presume that with the antecedent of Tambuwal… He was not their preferred candidate. He became speaker on the strength of his personality and character and was able to combine almost the totality of the opposition with a substantial chunk of the PDP in the House,”

“I have no doubt he will not be impeached,”
