Nigeria’s former President, Gen. Olusegun Obasanjo (rtd) will today resume classes as a graduate student at National Open University of Nigeria, Lagos as he aims at getting a higher degree in Christian Theology.

You may recall that in 2009, OBJ as he is fondly called bagged a Post Graduate Diploma from the same institution and in the same course. The former head of state is now looking at obtaining a masters degree and then a doctorate degree in the field.

The 77-year-old national leader spoke to Premium Times about the importance of this course to him:

“I’m going back to school because I need something to aspire to in every endeavour of life. I always aspire to something new in my farm. I do that in my international activities. I do it in my writing. I do it in the improvement of my academic work which helps to sharpen my brain and strengthen my faith.”

He also confirmed he will be able to manage the academic rigors of the course with his uptight schedule:

“Fortunately, the Open University is flexible enough and I will definitely be able to cope. I was able to cope when I did the Post Graduate. I was also busy during the period”.

At NewswireNGR, we wish him luck and good grades in school.
