Scores Killed As Terrorists Slaughter Adamawa Residents, Soldiers Displaced

Residents of Garkida, in Gombi Local Government Area of Adamawa State are reporting an ongoing heavy gunfire in the town. Scores are said to have been killed in Garkida so far and the terrorists begun carrying out the attack that has lasted for over three hours a source in the state said.

The actual number of persons killed cannot be verified as the siege is still ongoing, the villagers are said to be helpless .

Mustapha Atiku Abubakar wrote that “A military source confirmed to me that our troops on ground are outnumbered and have hence taken refuge within the civilian population.”

The ‘Command has deployed air support to Garkida’ the Military source continued. Troops artillery are no where a match compared to the terrorists’,Garkida is under Gombi Local Government Area where terrorists waylaid First Class Emirs, shot one dead.

Residents are said to have locked up their houses even as the heavy gunfire continues but the terrorists are said to be moving house to house slaughtering armless Civilians in the villages.

A German expatriate, Nirtsch Ernhard, was abducted in front of his house there about three weeks ago. Also in Adamawa, about 30 persons have been killed by unknown gunmen suspected to be members of the dreaded Boko Haram sect in some communities of Hong Local government Area .

An eyewitness accounts said that the unknown gunmen attacked the communities on Sunday morning . It was gathered that as a result of the attacks, the village head of Zar community, a retired wing commander, Dauda Daniel, is still missing .
Some relatives of Daniel said the community leader is yet to be found. There are concerns that he may have been abducted by the gunmen.

The worst affected community is Mubeng where it was gathered that 20 persons were reportedly butchered by the marauding gunmen.

The figure of those killed in Lube was yet to be ascertained, according to one of the villagers who fled the community as a result of the attacks.

Adamawa is one of the states in the North-East under the Federal Government’s state of emergency, said to be controlled by Military Personnel who are mostly ill-equipped to challenge the Islamic terrorists group.
