The Jigawa Government on Friday received 113 of its indigenes detained and released by the Nigerian Army in Abia.

The News Agency of Nigeria reports that the 113 indigenes of the state were part of the 486 travellers recently arrested by the 144 Battalion of the Nigerian Army in Abia.

Receiving the detainees at about midnight hours on Thursday in Dutse, Malam Aminu Ringim, the Chief of Staff to Governor Sule Lamido, said that the detainees would be properly screened by the state government.

Ringim said that all chairmen of the 27 local government councils of the state would be involved in the screening to determine their true status.

He said that the detainees were released after a meeting with officials of the state government, Chief of Army Staff, National Security Adviser and the Minister of Defence.

Ringim, however, cautioned against politicising security issues in the country, adding that security was collective responsibility of all.

Some members of the State Executive Council, special advisers and the state Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, Alhaji Salisu Mamuda, were also on hand to welcome the released detainees to the state.

NAN reports that the returnees were also treated to a grand reception by the state government.
