A source from Adamawa state tells newswirengr that the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, Thursday ordered the that the state government accounts be frozen.

This is coming days after the Adamawa State Governor, Murtala Nyako, was served with an impeachment notice by the state house of assembly.

The Director of Press and Public Affairs to the state Governor, Ahmad Sajoh, speaking to pressmen said “They have frozen all our accounts today; no reason has been given for the action. We were not served any notice and nobody has told us why our accounts were frozen.

“We only heard from unofficial sources that our accounts were frozen based on instructions from the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission.

“We have not been told for what offence. This is a deliberate ploy to pit the people of the state against the government because they know that by freezing our accounts, we cannot pay June salaries.

“You can only imagine the kind of suffering our people will go through during this Ramadan which is barely two weeks away.”

The commission gave the directive to freeze the bank accounts of the Adamawa State government  and no reason has however been given by the commission for the action even as the state governor is yet to be impeached by the assembly members.

The legislators  are bent on impeaching the governor and his deputy, Mr. Bala Ngilari but reports reveals that the Clerk of the House could not deliver the impeachment notice on the governor for a second day running.
