Kano: Police Withdrawn From Emir’s Palace

Police officers have been withdrawn from the palace of the emir of Kano according to reports reaching us. The state capital has been tensed following the appointment of Sanusi Lamido Sanusi, the Former and Suspended governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria.

Sources from the Presidency had Wednesday said the Nigerian police had been ordered to arrest the newly-crowned Emir of Kano, Sanusi Lamido, on fraud-related charges stemming from his tenure as Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN).

Since the new Emir of Kano was crowned, he has not been at the Palace as it has been under lock and key as a results of the pockets of protest that followed shortly after he was announced Emir.

The team of policemen at the Emir’s palace in Kano received the order from the Nigeria police headquarters to place Mr. Sanusi under arrest if he leaves the Kano Governor’s lodge, multiple sources claimed.

Meanwhile the Kano state governor has accused President Goodluck Jonathan of creating the ongoing crisis in the state and attempting to kill him.

Reasons for the withdrawal of the police is not known but we shall keep our readers updated as we get updates.
