Supporters of Sanusi Ado Bayero, the son of the late Emir of Kano, who was defeated by Lamido Sanusi to emerge the emir of the ancient city, have took to the streets to protest the rejection of their candidate.
The protesters were reported to have destroyed government properties marching towards the government house but were stopped by the Military. No one was injured or killed as at the time of filing this report but the protest began shortly after the Secretary to the Government of Kano state, Rabi’u Bichi, announced the selection of Sanusi Lamido as the new emir of Kano .
Governor Rabiu Kwankwaso approved the emergence of the former Central Bank of Nigeria governor who was suspended months to his retirement by President Goodluck Jonathan over what the government termed “Financial Recklessness”
“Out of these three names the government has approved Sanusi Lamido Sanusi, the Dan Majen Kano, and former Governor of Central Bank of Nigeria, CBN, as the new emir of Kano,” Mr Bichi, the SSG said while briefing pressmen.
